On the 12th of October, JAFA brought together 80 guests at Parliament House in Canberra to mark World Arthritis Day and raise awareness of the fact that arthritis affects children and young people too.

The event brought together Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, senators and members of parliament, children and young people living with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and childhood rheumatic diseases (CRDs), their families, representatives from peak health bodies and professional associations, and senior health personnel.

Through facilitated discussions, guests explored innovative ways to address the needs of children and young people living with these conditions. Participants shared their ideas and priorities on JAFA’s Tree of Truth, creating a collective vision to help inform and strengthen JAFA’s future advocacy and action.

At the heart of the event were the children and young people whose experiences and voices are central to improving awareness, diagnosis and care. Explore the event photo gallery to see highlights from the day: World Arthritis Day 2026 – Photo Gallery.
